From Firefighting to improvement

July 16, 2026

Speaker:

Jocelyn Acampora

Organizations rarely struggle to generate ideas for improvement; they struggle to implement them effectively and sustain results over time. Many teams find themselves caught in cycles of reactive problem-solving where the same issues keep coming back despite repeated efforts to fix them.

This interactive workshop combines practical Lean and continuous improvement tools with real-world strategies for implementation, leadership alignment, and sustaining change. The focus is on helping participants move from isolated improvement efforts to more consistent, system-based problem solving.

Participants will leave with practical tools and frameworks they can apply immediately to reduce firefighting, improve problem resolution, and strengthen the sustainability of improvements.

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand why improvement initiatives often fail to sustain results
  • Learn practical root cause analysis and problem-solving tools
  • Identify the role of leadership alignment in successful implementation
  • Explore common barriers that cause organizations to revert to old behaviors
  • Develop strategies to embed and sustain improvements over time
  • Create a simple action plan for applying concepts in the workplace
  • Understand how sustainable change directly impacts employee engagement and retention by reducing frustration, rework, and repeated problem cycles

Who should attend:

  • Supervisors
  • team leads
  • managers
  • engineers
  • quality professionals
  • emerging leaders involved in driving or supporting operational improvement

Facilitator Background:

Jocelyn Acampora is a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (project-based certification) and Black Belt trained.
